We often say we do more than spin at Welcombe Spinners and we’re always interesting in a new technique or craft. The relatively recent skill of needlefelting is one that many members enjoy: it’s easy to grasp the idea, satisfying to do, and you can take it as far as you like, with some members producing the most incredible projects which you can only describe as works of art. Yet even the children who stop by our stall at events usually go home with something to treasure after a (carefully supervised!) introductory session. The club owns an embellisher which makes larger projects slightly less RSI inducing, and we occasionally have days focused on needlefelting.
And of course we also explore more traditional felting, sometimes with a modern twist, making scarves, containers and bags among other things.
